Warning Lights on Your 2017 Honda Civic

When it comes to the warning lights that appear on a vehicle’s dashboard, there are some that Honda owners in San Diego, CA already have a pretty good sense of what they mean. The red battery-shaped light, for example, means that something is wrong with the battery. The “BRAKE” light means there is a potential problem with the brakes or that brake fluid levels are low.

Others, though, can be a little more confusing, and when you’re driving you don’t necessarily have the means to safely look up the origin of that anxiety-inducing warning flash immediately. To save you from any misunderstanding, here’s a quick rundown of some of the least understood warning lights in vehicles like the 2017 Honda Civic or 2018 Honda Accord:

·         Lane Departure Warning – This one looks like an overhead image of a car drifting away from a line. It flashing means your vehicle no longer is safely in its lane.
·         LKAS – These letters flashing mean there is a problem with your Lane Keeping Assist System, which keeps you from the doing the aforementioned drifting.
·         ACC – When these three yellow letters flash, it means you’ve got a problem with your adaptive cruise control, which ensures you maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
·         Collision Mitigation Braking System – This icon, which looks like a car over an arrow bumping into another car, means there may be something wrong with the advanced safety feature that keeps your actual car from imitating the icon.

All of these and many other warning lights are available in your manual, either physical or online, so if you bump into any other questions just check those or give us a call here at Pacific Honda anytime!
