A Powerful Hybrid Honda Civic

Here at Pacific Honda, we know that greener cars are becoming a bigger deal. Not only are they getting more popular, but automakers are electrifying all types of cars that you wouldn't even have thought of as green car candidates before. One surprising and exciting model that could soon get the hybrid treatment is the Honda Civic Type R, and that should capture the attention of hardcore fans of Honda cars.

We've recently learned that the Honda brand plans to electrify its entire European lineup by 2025. That could mean big things for some of our favorite new Honda vehicles in the states. One model that usually attracts attention in Europe is the Honda Civic Type R. So it only makes sense that we'll soon see a hybrid version of this small, fun to drive Honda car.

The current-generation Honda Civic is probably going to remain on the market until 2021. Then the Honda brand has plans to start building the next-generation model in North America, with a new Honda Civic Type R arriving shortly after. We don't know much about it so far, but we've already heard some interesting speculation.

The next Honda Civic Type R would likely continue to use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. That would send power to the front wheels, while a pair of electric motors would send power to the back wheels. That would make this the first all-wheel drive Honda Civic Type R as well as the first green one. The most exciting news? Its power output could rise above 400 horsepower. We can't wait to see this new model for ourselves!
