2016 Honda Models to Get Apple CarPlay
Once every few years, somebody comes up with an in-car technology that completely changes the way that people enjoy their automobiles. There was a time before windshield wipers, for example. Imagine how much easier life was after those came along!
Someday, we may say the same thing about Apple CarPlay, an in-car system that runs iOS and iOS apps through the vehicle’s touchscreen or through voice commands, and as your Honda dealership we are very excited to announce that certain Honda models will, for the first time, feature this slick new bit of tech for the 2016 model year.
More specifically, the 2016 Honda Accord (EX, EX-L and Touring trims), 2016 Honda Accord Coupe (EX, EX-L and Touring trims) and 2016 Honda Civic (EX, EX-T, EX-L and Touring trims) all will get CarPlay for the first time this coming year, which means that our drivers are very close to seeing just how convenient (and safe) it can be to use an Apple device while behind the wheel of your Honda vehicle.
While Honda vehicles have been taking Bluetooth phone calls and text messages for a few years now, CarPlay integrates the Apple version of those apps, as well. Third-party entertainment apps like Spotify, Rdio, iHeartRadio, CBS Radio and MLB At Bat also are available through CarPlay, which means a driver can actually access a ton of great smartphone goodies while behind the wheel of a car without ever having to actually look at a smartphone.
That should make things safer for everybody involved and should also completely revolutionize the way that people interact with their vehicles. This might not prove as important as windshield wipers, but it definitely is a new page in a long history of innovative automotive technologies.
