2016 Honda Accord Named Popular Mechanics' "Best Sedan"
You probably don’t need us to tell you that the 2016 Honda Accord is a great car, mostly because everything you’ve probably ever heard about the best-selling sedan has been overwhelmingly glowing and positive, but just in case you’re new to the world of Honda and haven’t been barraged with this just yet, trust us. The 2016 Honda Accord is a great car.
It isn’t just employees here at Pacific Honda who think so, either, as Popular Mechanics recently named the Accord their “Best Sedan” in their 2016 Automotive Excellence Awards, which are handed out after editors and senior writers at the magazine have driven and tested every major vehicle in the industry at least once, while also talking to the engineers who design those vehicles and the manufacturing facilities that build those vehicles. It’s about as well-researched a holistic award as exists in the industry right now, which is why it was such an honor for the Accord to be named the top four-door car currently in existence by a publication that’s so thorough in its methods.
So why was it named as such? Mostly because it somehow manages to keep up with every other loaded sedan in production while also providing some unique features. For starters, it is lauded for bucking the design trend of what the magazine calls “squashed rooflines,” standing “proudly upright” instead. It also opted to keep a V6 in its engine rotation while almost every other automaker is replacing those with turbocharged fours, and also is keeping manual transmissions as an option. Despite all of these ostensibly “old-fashioned” options it still remains as wildly popular among Kearny Mesa customers as any of the Honda cars in production.
That’s why it won the award, and that, obviously, is part of what makes it such a great car.
