It’s National Brake Safety Awareness Month at Pacific Honda

We evangelize for car maintenance because it’s more than oil changes, new tires, and saving money on repairs. Good maintenance saves lives, which is why the team at Pacific Honda is reminding you that August is Brake Safety Awareness Month. Take advantage of this reminder and visit us for Honda brake service.

Here’s why. Average stopping distance from 60 miles per hour is about 240 feet. That number, however, assumes ideal conditions. That means you’re driving in dry weather, with good brakes and good road conditions in your favor. If those variables change, trouble sets in. You can’t control the weather or the road conditions in San Diego, but you can and should keep an eye on those brakes.

A brake check doesn’t take long. You can even check the wear on your brake pads right now by walking outside and looking between the spokes on your wheel. If the pad has less than 2/32 of an inch of pad remaining, it’s time for new pads. Neglect that simple change and you’ll start seeing wear to other, more expensive, components like your calipers and rotors.

If you’d like a more comprehensive check by an expert technician, visit our Honda service center at 4761 Convoy St. in San Diego, CA. We should see you annually, but we expect to see you sooner if your brakes don’t feel right. If the pedal isn’t responding as it should, the car pulls when you brake, or even if the brakes have a bit too much grab, visit us. Not many miles on your car since we last saw you? Come in anyway. The stop-and-go of city traffic, or coming to sudden stops at high speeds, puts more wear on your brakes than you realize.

We’re here to help, not judge — and we have Honda service specials so you can enjoy your new Honda car in safety for years to come!

  1. I always try to maintain my car constantly, I care for all fluids, I exchange what I need on time, thanks to that I have much less problems with the car than some friends who do not pay much attention to it.

  3. Exactly. Some wonder then that such a Mercedes makes 1,000,000 km and everyone is surprised. But this car owner takes care of the car and then he can do so many kilometers without any problem. I have Honde Civic and to this day I have had no problem with her for 9 years. Maintenance on a regular basis.
