It's no secret that green cars are evolving rapidly, so
we're not surprised to see the Honda brand make some moves that would help it
create even more electric and hybrid models. Here at Pacific Honda we already
sell cars like the 2019
Honda Clarity and the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid, but we're excited to see
what else is in the works. With the reveal of one new deal and some concepts,
we have a better idea of what lies ahead.
The first bit of news is that the Honda brand has made a
deal with Contemporary Amperex Technology LTD, also known as CATL, that will
see the companies work together to develop lithium ion batteries for electric
cars. The Honda brand already has battery suppliers, so adding in another one
shows that it's ready to ramp up production of green cars. This deal would
primarily focus on supplies in Asia and North America, which makes sense. China
has instituted some ambitious green car “quotas” and demand for greener
vehicles is on the rise in the United States, so this new supply of batteries
will certainly come in handy.
We also just got a look at the new Honda
Tomo concept. This unique electric vehicle made its debut at the Geneva
Motor Show. It's a compact electric car that shares some similarities with the
Urban EV concept, which recently showed off its own upgraded interior. The
Honda Tomo is all about adaptability. It can actually transform from a coupe
into a small pickup truck! We can't wait to see what else the Honda brand is
working on!
