Honda to Host First-Ever Trick-or-Treating Event on Twitter

For the first time ever, ghouls, goblins, ghosts and other costumed creatures will be able to trick-or-treat on Twitter on Fri., Oct. 31 by tweeting @Honda a photo of themselves in costume with the hashtag #TreatPromo. Honda will reply to eligible people with a link to a coupon for a free box of MIKE AND IKE® candy as well as a link to a spooky Vine video.
Five eerie Vine videos feature the redesigned CR-V opening up when trick-or-treaters come to Honda’s door, so to speak.
Honda will use promoted tweets with video cards to announce the effort on Twitter. Both brands will also organically promote the effort on social media—Honda on Facebook and Twitter and MIKE AND IKE® on Facebook and Twitter.
“In the spirit of Halloween, we wanted a simple and unique way to show some appreciation to our fans. Innovation is at the heart of our brand. Why not look at innovating something as fun as trick or treating?” said Tom Peyton, AVP, Advertising and Marketing at Honda.

There are a lot of things worth looking forward to when it comes to the Detroit Auto Show, which takes place every winter in the motor capital of the U.S., but one our favorites here at Pacific Honda is the North American Car of the Year Award presentation, which almost always involves at least one nominee with a Honda badge on the front grille.

Honda CR-V Named 2015 Motor Trend Sport/Utility Of The Year

  • Refreshed CR-V chosen for its fuel economy, driving dynamics, long list of new safety features and overall refinement
  • Noted for its new Touring trim with Honda Sensing safety and driver-assistive safety technologies
  • America's best-selling SUV over the past decade
The Honda CR-V has won Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year for 2015.
The CR-V claims the title with a long list of vehicle enhancements for 2015, including its improved fuel economy and uncompromised driving dynamics, thanks to the inclusion of Honda's Earth Dreams Technology™ powertrain, the launch of an all-new Touring trim, the debut of Honda Sensing™ safety and driver assistive technologies and the CR-V's excellent value for money paradigm.
Motor Trend editor-in-chief Ed Loh, said, "The 2015 Honda CR-V impressed our judges with its extensive list of delightful design and thoughtful engineering improvements. Our editors were especially impressed by Honda's responsive and efficient continuously-variable transmission and sophisticated safety systems – particularly the smart and seamlessly integrated Lane Keeping Assist system. Efficient, practical, and a joy to drive; the 2015 Honda CR-V does virtually everything well."
"It is an honor to receive such a prestigious award from the expert staff at Motor Trend," said Jeff Conrad, SVP & General Manager of Honda Division, American Honda Motor Co, Inc. "Our engineers, planners, and dealers work hard to deliver class leading products to our customers, and it's extremely rewarding to be recognized for that hard work. This award from Motor Trend reaffirms for us that we're meeting that goal."
In addition to the Honda CR-V, the 2015 Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year competition included 18 other all-new or significantly updated SUVs:
BMW X4
BMW X5
Cadillac Escalade
Chevrolet Tahoe
Chevrolet Suburban
Ford Expedition
GMC Yukon
GMC Yukon XL
Jeep Cherokee
Lexus NX
Lincoln MKC
Lincoln Navigator
Mercedes-Benz GLA
Nissan Rogue
Porsche Macan
Subaru Outback
Toyota Highlander
Volvo XC60
Motor Trend's Sport/Utility of the Year is not a comparison test, and is only open to all-new or substantially upgraded vehicles that have gone on sale in the 12 months from November 1 of the previous year.
To judge contenders for the award, Motor Trend's editorial staff conducted an exhaustive three-phase testing process. Phase one includes a full tech check and weigh-in, then full track testing to establish baseline data for acceleration, braking and handling. Phase two involves three days of road loops offering a range of road surfaces and traffic conditions to evaluate ride and handling, engine and transmission smoothness and responsiveness, wind and road noise and ergonomics. An off-road section tests traction, stability, and braking control systems. In the third phase the judges debate and deliberate. The judging criteria include the following categories:
Design Advancement - well-executed exterior and interior styling; innovative vehicle packaging; good selection and use of materials.
Engineering Excellence - total vehicle concept and execution; clever solutions to packaging, manufacturing and dynamics issues; cost-effective tech that benefits the consumer.
Performance of Intended Function - how well the vehicle does the job its planners, designers, and engineers intended it to do.
Efficiency - low fuel consumption and carbon footprint, relative to the vehicle's competitive set.
Safety - a vehicle's ability to help the driver avoid a crash, as well as the secondary safety measures that protect its occupants from harm during a crash.
Value - competitive price and equipment levels, measured against those of vehicles in the same market segment.
Priced from $23,320, the CR-V is offered with a new Honda Earth Dreams Technology™ 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine and CVT (continuously variable transmission). The CR-V can be had in either front- or all-wheel drive, and it earns best-in-class fuel economy, with and EPA-estimated 27 mpg city/34 mpg highway/ 29mpg combined for front-wheel-drive models, and 26/33/28-mpg for all-wheel drive.
The 2015 CR-V is expected to receive a Top Safety Pick+ (TSP+) award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and its official safety ratings will be released later this year. The 2015 CR-V is manufactured exclusively for the North American market at Honda plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico using domestic and globally sourced parts.
The recognition from Motor Trend validates the sales success of the Honda
CR-V, which sold more than 300,000 units last year, and is on track to do the same in 2014. CR-V's strong sales performance has been a consistent triumph for the Honda brand since the vehicle's introduction, leading CR-V to become the best-selling SUV in the industry over the past decade.
For more information about the award, judging process, and the contenders check out the December issue of Motor Trend or visit www.motortrend.com.
Today, Honda is launching a 60- and 30-second anthem TV commercial, "Music Festival," with music by Portugal. The Man, a Honda Stage band, to launch the new 2015 CR-V. The commercial speaks to Gen Y and focuses on adults who are establishing themselves and are about to or in the midst of entering their next life stage. While embracing this rite of passage, these singles, couples and young families are still dreamers and doers that continue to make time for a fun, active and fulfilling life. The CR-V advertising campaign will be supported across network primetime and sports, digital, online video, social and print.

Affordable Honda Civic Earns High Marks

As adults, we tend to think that our relationship with grades ends the minute we finish our final day in the classroom. No more worrying about getting a C on that paper, or a D on that test. We’re grown-ups now, which should mean that grades don’t matter anymore--except they do, especially when we’re looking at buying a new car.

  • Bold new exterior design plus chassis, braking system and sound isolation improvements

Display Audio, standard on EX and above trim levels, allows the user to tap, pinch, and swipe – just like on a smart phone or tablet – to control audio and other telematics features, including the available next-generation HondaLink™9 and the Honda Satellite-linked Navigation System™10. All CR-Vs retain the full-color intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) that offers a range of customizable features via fingertip controls on the steering wheel. Powertrain
The 2015 CR-V's new Earth Dreams Technology™ 2.4-liter direct-injected DOHC i-VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine produces 181 lb-ft of torque, an 11-percent increase over the previous engine's 163 lb-ft13 while making the same 185 horsepower14. The new lighter-weight engine is mated to a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) with G-design Shift that provides smooth, seamless ratio changes and contributes to increased EPA fuel economy ratings of 27/34/29 mpg3 (city/highway/combined) for front-wheel-drive models and 26/33/28 mpg3 for the Real Time AWD models.
Chassis
An updated suspension design, and features such as Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)15 and Motion-Adaptive Electric Power Steering (EPS) all contribute to the 2015 CR-V's quality driving experience, which is enhanced further on the EX and above trims with wider front and rear track dimensions due to wider wheels (+0.5 inches). The CR-V uses front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension systems that benefit from tuning changes. The rear multi-link system helps maximize rear seating and cargo space while providing stable and comfortable handling and ride quality. Newly revised shock absorber tuning helps deliver a refined driving feel.
Safety and Driver-Assistive Technology
As with all Honda vehicles, safety is a primary focus, starting with the CR-V's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure that helps make the CR-V highly effective at absorbing and dispersing the energy of a frontal collision crash. Overall, the body receives more than 60 changes to improve stiffness and collision performance, and the 2015 CR-V is targeted to achieve top safety ratings, including a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a NCAP 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the NHTSA. Standard safety equipment on all models include Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) electronic stability control system, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, frontal airbags, side-curtain airbags, SmartVent® front-side airbags, and a front seat design that can help reduce the severity of neck injury in the event of a rear collision. The newly available Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver assistive features includes Honda LaneWatch™, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). These systems benefit from the adoption of new sensor fusion technology that integrates the capabilities of a windshield-mounted monocular camera and millimeter wave radar to provide enhanced sensing with ability to identify and anticipate multiple collision scenarios, including a pedestrian collision, and initiate warnings and, in some cases, emergency braking.
Warranty
The 2015 Honda CR-V is covered by a comprehensive 3-year/36,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain limited warranty. Additional benefits of ownership include Honda Roadside Assistance, which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance during the 3-year/36,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty term. CR-Vs are manufactured at the Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc., East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio using domestic and globally sourced parts.
