2014 Honda Accord Among Finalists for Green Car of the Year Award
We can say with absolute confidence that Honda prides itself on being one of the “greenest” automakers on the face of the planet. Considering how much time, money, and energy goes into making Honda vehicles so efficient, we know that the engineers who make these things happen would love to be nominated for the Green Car Journal’s annual Green Car of the Year award.
Well, we’ve got good news for them, and everyone involved with the Honda brand: the 2014 Honda Accord is one of five finalists to win that very accolade.
The reasons why aren’t exactly a secret; not only is the standard gas model among the most efficient midsize sedans in the industry, but the Accord expanded its lineup this model year to include a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid model that are both even more impressive in terms of miles per gallon. The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In, for example, is the single most efficient midsize hybrid sedan currently offered in the United States.
With extremely high efficiency numbers like that, it’s no wonder that the new Accord and all its iterations are being considered for the Green Car of the Year award. Lemon Grove Honda dealers are very proud of the fact that these vehicles are in the Honda stable, and we here at Pacific Honda in San Diego are certainly no different.
Later this month we’ll find out the winner of this award at the L.A. Auto Show, but we feel pretty good just to have the Accord be nominated. To win, though, would put an exclamation point on how hard Honda engineers have worked to make these vehicles among the most environmentally friendly in the world.
