Ricochet the Surf Dog and Her Honda CR-V

There is a very good chance that you did not come to this Honda dealership blog today expecting to read about a dog that possesses the ability surf, but there’s a very good chance that you’re going to get that fantastic story anyway because it’s one of our “Always Sunny Stories” here this month, reminding us that good things happen to good people (and good dogs).

Allow us to explain. Ricochet started her life in training to be service dog to the physically challenged, but when she was just a pup, she lost interest in her training and was not able to be certified. That’s when owner Judy took her to a dog surfing competition on a lark. Ricochet placed third, so Judy started taking her to other surfing events, when one time, completely out of the blue, the pup jumped onto a board with a quadriplegic surfer and helped him get through his own surfing event.

“My dog likes to surf,” Judy said, “But surfing is only a part of what Ricochet does. Healing is what she does best.”

To honor all the work Judy has done driving Ricochet around to service events (and to honor Ricochet herself, honestly) San Diego Honda dealers teamed up to award her with a brand new 2017 Honda CR-V to replace her 2001 model year version that drove so many miles so reliably for her and her pup.
